SPAR Slovenia recognized for good employment practices

SPAR Slovenia is delighted to receive for the first time the “Disability Friendly Company” award from the Slovenian Ministry of Work, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. This distinction was granted because over 5% of employees are disabled. The company also continues to support local communities and address positive environmental impacts through responsible retail initiatives.

Disability Friendly Company

For the first time, the Ministry of Labor, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities awarded SPAR Slovenia the “Disability-friendly company” award. This special distinction for SPAR Slovenia highlights the company’s good practices in providing employment opportunities to people with disabilities. SPAR Slovenia is one of the largest employers in the country with over 5,100 employees. More than 5% of employees are disabled.

Accepting the award, Branka Jovanovi from SPAR Slovenia’s HR team said that with the right support, all employees can have equal opportunities, ensuring that everyone contributes to the company’s success. SPAR Slovenia continuously invests in better working conditions, new skills training for employees and advocates for an inclusive, stable and safe workplace for all.

Lake cleaning campaign

SPAR supported the traditional September cleaning of Lake Soboka after the busy summer season. Children from three local primary schools joined PD Murska Sobota divers in the clean-up operation. In total, they removed about 150 kilograms of waste from the lake and its surroundings. As part of the clean-up campaign, divers prepared an educational quiz for students participating in the action. The topics covered the ecological, geographical and historical characteristics of Lake Soboka, as well as the basics of safe diving.

This is the seventh year in which SPAR Slovenia has been collaborating with the Slovenian Diving Association as part of the Together for a Better Tomorrow initiative. The cooperation aims to raise ecological awareness among consumers and encourage pro-ecological behavior.
